With financial support from The Tudwick Foundation and other funders, Dig It Community Allotment has undergone a remarkable transformation. Their new site which was once overgrown has become an accessible, welcoming space where people of all abilities can come together to grow, learn, and connect. Over the past year, the charity has delivered Open to All sessions and specialist workshops, reaching more than 280 people directly and indirectly.
Their new site now boasts raised planters, wheelchair-accessible paths, a new irrigation system, and preparations for a greenhouse. These additions have not only improved the new site but opened up opportunities for people with mobility challenges to take part fully. Alongside these improvements, the charity has expanded from two to five weekly sessions, supported by a growing team of staff, ensuring the allotment is thriving with activity throughout the week.
This transformation has gone beyond the physical space. Participants are experiencing greater independence, improved well-being, and a strong sense of belonging. Thanks to The Tudwick Foundation’s support, Dig It continues to thrive providing a place where barriers are removed, potential is nurtured, and lives are changed for the better.
