We are delighted to celebrate and thank the Town Pastors of Bury St Edmunds for their continued dedication and compassionate service throughout the year. Patrolling the town centre every Saturday night between 10:00pm and 4:00am, these volunteers have offered a calm, caring presence amidst the nightlife, working closely alongside door staff, police, CCTV, and emergency services.

Their impact is remarkable. Between April 2024 and March 2025, Town Pastors recorded 4,793 acts of service, over 4,300 of which directly supported individuals or groups. From ensuring the safety of 156 vulnerable individuals, to diffusing 32 potentially violent situations, and providing 3,900 refreshments, their presence has undoubtedly helped reduce crime, hospital visits, and police intervention.

Beyond the numbers, the gratitude from the public speaks volumes: “You saved my life,” “Thank you so much for what you do,” and “I love the Freddo people!” (a reference to the chocolate bars which are handed out to raise blood sugar levels) are just a few of the heartfelt comments shared.

Thanks to support from the Tudwick Foundation, this vital work continues. We offer our heartfelt congratulations and deep appreciation to the Town Pastors for being visible guardians of safety and kindness in Bury St Edmunds.
